Police Chase Ensues After Suspect Shoots at Repo Man

Dania Beach, FL – June 9, 2016 Police said a repo man was trying to do his job when the owner of the car he was trying to repossess started shooting at him and then chased him on I-95.

According to the tow truck driver, Colby Gonzales, it all started when he showed up at a house in Miami-Dade to repossess a car. Gonzales said someone connected to that car then started shooting at him, striking the side of his truck.

Gonzalez said he headed northbound on I-95 to try and get away from the alleged shooter. That person ended up following him on the highway and chasing him. Gonzalez said he feared for his life and called 911.

“The Hollywood PD came up and caught up on me. I stopped on the side of the road,” Gonzalez said. “He got out of the vehicle and they arrested him. I’m just glad I’m alive right now.”

Police said the chase ended at the northbound Griffin road off ramp where the alleged shooter was taken into custody.

“I think he was just blasting and just letting go of his gun because he wanted to,” said Gonzales, “and now he’s going to jail over a 2006 Nissan Altima.”

Gonzales’ wife said she’s shaken up by the events and is now scared for her husbands life. “It’s just a vehicle you know … this person could have taken my husband and could have taken you know, my kids’ father.”

Gonzales, who is a father of two, was not injured and said he is just lucky to be alive.

The alleged shooter has been arrested and is now being questioned by police. His identity has not yet been released.
