San Antonio, TX – 26 October, 2016 – A woman found dead on a North Side roadway may have been dragged to death while chasing her car as it was being repossessed, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

SAPD Sgt. Martin Landgraf said it’s still not clear exactly how the woman, possibly in her late 20s, died at about 10 p.m. just past the on-ramp of Wurzbach Parkway from Vista Del Norte near Blanco Road.

Investigators so far believe the woman was either dragged or struck as she was chasing the tow truck up Vista Del Norte as it carried away her vehicle.

“This is a strange one,” Landgraf said, noting that witnesses in the nearby apartments heard her screaming.

The woman’s body was found lying by itself in the street because the tow truck had left the scene.

Landgraf said the investigation into the incident may take several hours into early Wednesday because the length of the scene detectives were examining stretched almost half a mile. The woman’s lighter and car keys could be seen at the bottom of Vista Del Norte near an apartment complex where the incident began.

The only eyewitness to the incident only speaks Spanish, and had to be taken downtown to speak with a translator, police said.

Landgraf confirmed that investigators are reaching out to local towing agencies and running the description of the woman’s vehicle to see who was in charge of taking it.

Police said the woman had her 10-year-old boy with her when the incident began.

The on ramp and right two lanes of the parkway at that section were shut as Traffic Investigation detectives examined the scene.
