6 Year Old Struck and Abandoned By Mother Fleeing Repossession

Winnsboro, SC – December 2, 2012 – According to a Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department incident report, a 27-year old mother backed into her 6-year old daughter and left her as she fled the repossession of her Chevy Impala.

The incident reportedly occurred Sunday at around 5:30pm at 704 Golf Course Road when employees of Action Recovery Service arrived to repossess a 2004 Chevy Impala from 27-year-old Kimberly Jones.

According to the report, things went sour quickly as Jones reportedly jumped into the vehicle and put the car in reverse at a high speed attempting to get away. In the process, striking her 6-year-old daughter in the back with the open door.

Jones then allegedly told her daughter to get into the car but eventually sped away leaving the 6-year-old behind, according to the report.

Deputies responded to the scene and checked the little girl out and then proceeded to call the Department of Social Services.

At the request of DSS, the girl’s father was notified and arrived at the sheriff’s department to pick the little girl up.

An arrest warrant for Jones’ is expected to be requested, but at the time it is unclear what charges Jones will face.

  1. My heart goes out to this little girl. What this mother did was despicable-certainly won’t be getting the Mom of the Year award!!! This woman not only put her child’s life in danger, she also showed her child that the car was more important than her own flesh and blood. People- not things-are important. Things can be replaced. People and the relationships you have with them cannot. I hope this little girl gets to spend the holidays with someone who actually loves and cares about her.

  2. A couple years ago I had a parent shove their children out in front of my truck as I was pulling out of their driveway with their suburban in tow, people do crazy things.

  3. If I were the agency owner, I would do everyone a favor, and contact “Child Protective Services”
