Calaveras County, CA – March 9, 2017 – Sheriff’s Deputies responding to a report of a fight at the Sequoia Rose Mobile Home Park in Valley Springs Feb. 27 wound up arresting three adults and a juvenile on assault charges. In an official release on the incident released this week, the CCSO said deputies responding to the call for help at around 4:30 p.m. determined that Jacob King and Robert Saling allegedly went to the Valley Springs Mobile Home Park to repossess a vehicle that they had sold to Jaycob Babcock-Coburn and his girlfriend. King and Saling were reportedly armed with a baseball bat and a metal pipe at the time. King allegedly entered Coburn’s trailer and threatened his girlfriend, whose name was not released and who was caring for two small children, by raising the bat. Investigators said King and Saling then took the keys to the car at the center of the dispute from inside the trailer and proceeded to take the car.
Upon learning what had occurred, Babcock-Coburn and a 16-year-old boy, whose name was not released because of his age, allegedly armed themselves with a bat and wooden stick. They confronted Saling at his trailer at Sequoia Rose. Saling allegedly threatened to arm himself with a firearm, so Coburn and the juvenile walked away. Coburn and the juvenile later returned and met Saling in the street where a fight took place. Saling was knocked to the ground, where he was allegedly kicked and struck with a bat by the juvenile. Saling was treated on scene by medical staff and refused any further medical treatment.
Jacob King was placed under arrest for conspiracy to commit a crime, second degree robbery, corporal injury to a spouse/date/etc. and his bail was set at $120,000. Robert Saling was arrested for conspiracy to commit a crime and second degree robbery and his bail was set at $50,000. Jaycob Babcock-Coburn was arrested for conspiracy to commit a crime and assault with a deadly weapon and his bail was set at $50,000. The juvenile suspect was arrested and transported to juvenile probation for conspiracy to commit a crime and assault with a deadly weapon.
