California Assembly Votes on AB 2501, the “Credit Killer” Bill!

“We bailed the banks out, now it’s their turn to bail us out.” AB 2501 assembly speaker on the house floor.

Sacramento, CA – 15 June, 2020 – Without a single voice in opposition speaking on the floor and under a barrage of blame and the statement of a supporter “We bailed the banks out, now it’s their turn to bail us out.”, the California State Assembly took to vote.

UPDATE: Although the end of the day vote suggests a win is imminent, a lobbyist has advised that this bill can be brought up AGAIN before the assembly on Thursday, June 18th.

6:23 – The Assembly has adjourned for the night. Assuming the last shown vote counts, AB 2501 actually lost votes in the dying moments and currently stands at 28-25 as it now appears that some Assembly Leaders withdrew their support to avoid having their earlier votes held against them.

6:09 – AB 2501 appears to have lost four votes and is now down to 35

5:47 – The vote appears to have changed again and now shows 39-25. There is still no audio to ascertain exactly what is going on.

5:20PM – This vote has been kept open and now at this minute stands at 40-22. We will keep you posted. Assemblywoman Limon used a procedure to keep the vote open and is out lobbying for it on the floor. 41 votes are needed!

4:49 – On screen, they showed the final count, but audio was cut off for a final declaration. Assuming the last image of votes correct, AB 2501 DID NOT Pass by a vote of 35 to 19, with a significant number of non-voting members.
