Man Buys Porsche with Homemade Cashiers Check

But the Rolex Salesman Wasn’t so Dumb

Walton County, FL – 2 August 2020 – Fake ID, CPN? Who needs them? 42-year old Casey Kelley, woke up the other morning and treated himself to a white Porsche 911 Turbo using a fake cashiers check that he printed at home. It went so well that he decided to treat himself to a trio of Rolex watches. And, he ran out of luck.

Kelley, of Wewahitchka, was arrested by Walton County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday after a Miramar Beach jeweler reported that he had used a fake cashiers check for $61,521 in an attempt to purchase three Rolex watches the day before.

Investigators then learned that Kelley had successfully purchased a Porsche 911 Turbo on Monday from a dealership in Destin, which he proudly posted photos of on FaceBook. The cashiers check to the dealer for the Porsche, $139,203, wait for it, also turned out to be a fraud!

Kelley is reported to have admitted his crimes to investigators when confronted, but insisted that he had done nothing wrong because he had used his real bank account number, which had (surprise) insufficient funds to pay for the spree.

Kelley faces charges of grand theft and forgery, and is out on a $10,000 bond.
