Father and Son Won’t Face Death Penalty in Repo Man Murder

Columbus County, NC – 7 August, 2015 – The death penalty will not be in play for the two men accused of fatally shooting a repo agent in Columbus County in June.

According to District Attorney Jon David, his office will not seek the death penalty against William Roy Kohler, Jr and William Roy Kohler III following a meeting with the victim’s family and a court hearing on Thursday.

Both men are accused of killing Jeffrey David Lowe, 37, of Orrum, as he attempted to repossess a vehicle at a home in the 1400 block of Sunset Terrace Road, west of Whiteville. Columbus County officials say Lowe was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both men remain in the Columbus County Jail under a $1 million bond each.
