South of the Border repo agents fired at with their own gun

Dillon County, SC – October 28, 2021 – In a twist of irony, one big detail on last weeks repossession shooting incident was left out. The repossession was in progress at the tourist trap/restaurant/gas station on the South and North Carolina border when things turned sour.

Apparently, while the agents were securing her vehicle at the gas pumps, the still unnamed woman began beating on the tow truck. Somehow, she gained access to it’s interior. Once inside, the woman found a gun belonging to one of the repossessors.

According to Dillon County Sheriff Douglas Pernell, that is when the woman opened fire on the agents who fled for cover inside the store.

The back window glass of a Chevy Tahoe appears to have been struck by the rounds, as well as a tire which can be seen flat as the vehicle was being driven away from the scene. A bullet hole also struck the gas station glass but no one was reportedly injured.

It was just a couple of weeks ago that we were just discussing opinions of guns in the field after the October 13 shooting of a borrower in San Antonio. Apparently, these agents were among the 26% that believed that agents should carry firearms in the field. Unfortunately, I doubt this is how any of them saw the possibility of things going down.

Store Clerk, Jackie Chestnut, was working inside when the gunfire erupted.

I thought I was going to lose my life today. I tried to look out for my coworkers. You know let’s get to the back. Quick thinking, I’m thankful to South of the Border security for getting here as fast as they did and for Dillon County Sheriff’s to get here as fast as they did,” Chestnut said.

No one was injured in the incident and the unnamed woman has been charged with five counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and two counts of malicious injury to property.
