This happened to me last year. A first payment default skip was repossessed by a small company whose owner has changed his company names several times along with seapping out “members”.
The only reason why the vehicle was found is that the repo company has a camera system and when the vehicle was parked in the storage lot it scanned the tag when a tow truck drove past it.
The repo company had been sitting on my repo for six weeks and I thought the debtor was lying when she said it had already been repossessed. No repossession report to the county (has to be reported within one hour) and no incvoice or phone call to my client acknowleding repossession and definately NO AUTHORIZATION TO REPOSSESS given to this theving repo company.
Harris County Sherrifs office recovered the vehicle and I don’t know what happened to the criminal case.
