Fremont, NB – 22 February 2017 – Two Fremont men were arrested after they allegedly tried to repossess a vehicle from a Fremont residence early Tuesday evening.
Fremont Police were called to a home in the 2200 block of E. 20th Street at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday on a call of suspicious activity in that area. Upon arrival, officers made contact with 38-year old Vincent W. Perry and 36-year old Andrew W. Whitley, both of Fremont. When officers arrived, they observed Perry and Whitley attempting to pull a car out of a parking lot behind that residence.
Officers say that the owner then went outside to confront the two while they were attempting to take one vehicle. The owner claimed that the vehicle was not behind on payments and officers advised the civil matter would have to be sorted out elsewhere. During the incident, two cars saw damage done to their steering columns.
Both Perry and Whitley were cited for criminal mischief and released. Whitley was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Burt County. The men did not leave with the car they were attempting to repossess.
