Bridgeton, NJ – March 6, 2013 – Sometimes getting the car isn’t the hard part, it’s getting away. That’s what two Repo Men found as they came under attack from a violent woman, a pit bull and her boyfriend with a baseball bat.
Trouble began just before 3a.m on Tuesday when two unnamed employees of an also unnamed repossession company attempted a repossession at the 400 block of North Burlington Road in an attempt to recover a 2012 Chevy Sonic.
With the car already on the hook and secured to their tow truck, they were preparing to leave when a woman, who police would not identify, jumped through the car’s driver’s door.
The repo men came out of their truck and asked the woman to exit the car. But that’s when 20-year-old Edgar K. Montalvo, also living in the house, came from out of the house with a baseball bat shouting threats and releasing a pit bull at them, according to police.
The repo men jumped back into their tow truck and began to leave when Montalvo responded by beating on their truck with the bat. Police report that the Repo Men then unhooked the Sonic and drove away “to avoid further attack.”
Montalvo was later arrested on charges of theft, aggravated assault, and two counts each of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He posted $2,500 bail.
