Cleveland, OH – 7 March 2018 – A Cleveland woman ran down a man as he tried to repossess her car near a dealership on the city’s East Side.
Marea Dudley, 24, is charged with felonious assault. Her case was bound over to a Cuyahoga County grand jury and her bond set at $15,000 when she appeared for arraignment Monday in Cleveland Municipal Court.
The incident happened about 3:30 p.m. Friday at Euclid Avenue and Urbana Road in the Euclid-Green neighborhood.
Workers at M1D Auto Sales dealership on Euclid Avenue saw Dudley drive her 2008 Saturn Vue past the business. Employees had a repossession order for the Saturn, so a 23-year-old worker followed it down Urbana Road until it stopped, a Cleveland police report says.
The man confronted Dudley and told her that he needed to repossess the car. Dudley accelerated toward the man and struck him with her front end, the report says. The force of the impact caused him to roll onto the hood and windshield, and the windshield broke, the report says.
The man held onto the car as Dudley continued to swerve in an attempt to shake him loose, the report says.
The man’s father told police that he watched the altercation unfold and tried to get Dudley to stop several times, the report says. The father punctured two of the tires, the report says.
The man fell off the car as Dudley swerved, court records say. She abandoned the car on a nearby street and walked away, the report says. Dudley later called police and officers arrested her after speaking with the employees.
The man declined treatment from Cleveland EMS workers, but said he was sore from the incident.
The case is Dudley’s first felony offense in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, records show.
