Credit Union Collections – Credit Union Collectors – Credit unions traditionally conduct their own collections on lower levels of delinquent loans, While they outsource charged off loans to collection agencies and repossession agencies, they, for the most operate their collections activities with a similar philosophical effort as they do their lending. “People helping people” is an old credit union value that is as well embraced in credit union collections.
Nationwide, there are numerous credit union collections associations with the California Credit Unions Collectors Council – CCUCC, being the oldest and largest of all. There are emerging and growing associations across the nation including Washington State which covers the entire Pacific Northwest region including Oregon and Idaho. Of focus to these associations is Fair Debt Collection Practices Act – FDCPA compliance training and fraud prevention.
