Jay, ME – 23 September 2016 – A local man is accused of firing three shots in the general direction of a wrecker operator attempting to repossess a vehicle Wednesday night on Intervale Road, police said.

William Bowie, 55, of Jay then handed the pistol to his wife, Jacqueline Bowie, 55, of Jay, who continued to aim the gun at the operator while her husband got in the vehicle and drove it away, according to a news release from the Jay Police Department.
Police received the complaint at 9:48 p.m.
Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier collected evidence at the scene.
William Bowie was no longer at the residence and when Fournier initially attempted to speak with Jacqueline Bowie about the incident, she was uncooperative, according to Detective Michael Mejia’s release.
A .45-caliber handgun used during the incident was turned over to police.
Further investigation by police revealed that William Bowie is a convicted felon in Maine and is prohibited from possessing firearms, the release said. He has a felony conviction in Maine for reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, it said.
Police Chief Richard Caton IV and Mejia were called to the scene to assist Fournier in the investigation and obtained a search warrant for the residence.
Police discovered Bowie was in the residence, talked with him by cellphone, and he came out and was taken into custody.

William Bowie was arrested on felony charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Jacqueline Bowie was arrested on a felony charge of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.
A conviction on each of the charges is punishable by a maximum of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Both Bowies were released on bail from the Franklin County jail in Farmington on Thursday; William Bowie on $500 cash, and his wife on $400 cash, a corrections officer said.
Jay police were assisted by the Maine State Police, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Livermore Falls police.
