Miami Gardens, FL β February 13, 2026 β She looked meek and humble. But a fake driverβs license, a cashierβs check from a fraudulent company exposed the truth. She was a member of an international auto loan bust out fraud syndicate sending dozens of fraudulently obtained vehicles straight to China.
A 24-year-old California woman was arrested last week after attempting to buy a $101,000 Tesla Model X with a fraudulent driverβs license and a cashierβs check from a fake company. She later confessed to police that she was part of a larger organized fraud syndicate operating between California and China, raising alarming questions about an international vehicle scam.
Chuting Chen, of Rosemead, California, faces several felony charges after the incident Monday at a Tesla dealership on NW Second Avenue.
Police say Chen tried to purchase a Tesla Model X worth more than $101,000 using a counterfeit Florida driver’s license tied to someone with a superior credit score.

She also submitted a cashier’s check from a Montana company she falsely claimed to own, prompting Tesla’s loss prevention team to alert authorities.
In custody, Chen confessed to buying the fake ID online for $100, opening a Las Vegas bank account, and funneling over $38,000 into the bogus Montana shell company for the down payment.
She acknowledged her role in a “systematic fraud organization,” revealing that her partner is currently in China.
Officers found her with 32 California vehicle titles and 46 certificates of origin, which she planned to use for fraudulent vehicle registrations and potential export abroad.
Chen is charged with scheming to defraud a financial institution, second-degree grand theft, fraudulent use of personal identification, organized fraud, and improper vehicle title transfer.
As of Tuesday, she remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with bond pending.
